Red Jackfruit is an evergreen tree with leathery leaves that bear fruits throughout the year. The red jackfruit trees are mostly cultivated throughout tropical regions like most jackfruits are cultivated. Even though South India is one of the best places to cultivate Red jackfruit, it is rare to find in these regions than the other common jackfruits. Their flesh colour shade between yellowish red to dark red and have a very high nutrient which is the reason for their naming. We can use both of their creamy flesh and the seeds to make dishes. Jackfruit is a species of tree that comes under the fig, mulberry, and breadfruit family of trees. Jack fruit is the world largest tree-borne fruit which can grow to a length up to a meter and about 50 kg of weight. The tree is well suited and cultivated throughout tropical lowlands and are most popular in South and Southeast Asian countries like India, West Bengal, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc… Each tree can bear from 100 to 200 fruits annually, where each individual fruit is composed of 50 -100 individual flowers which are the fleshy petals eatable part of jackfruit. We use both of their rich creamy flesh and the seeds as food. Wide varieties of food, dishes and snacks are made using both flesh and seeds.
